With the Crown Prince’s coming-of-age ceremony, a Peach Maiden is presented to him. These maidens—said to have been raised eating nothing but peaches—possess extraordinary beauty, and their blood, flesh, and very existence are believed to grant the Crown Prince strength and divine blessings. They are, quite literally, sacrifices for the glory of the nation.

Zhare (扎熱), one such Peach Maiden, is given to Crown Prince Zujin (子晶), the youngest to ever ascend to the title.
