Because of the physical intensity, most female knights are infertile. Kalia’s pregnancy is extremely unlikely. the reason Simon says he hates kids is so that Kalia never feels guilty for not being able to give him children (you know, since it is like a requirement for noble wives).
It’s not very nice to say that this is why she left him. He knows that being with her means giving up having a family, so he wants to make her believe that not having kids is HIS idea and that her infertility is actually a good thing instead of something to be insecure about. Kalia is the strongest knight, so it SHOULD be impossible for her to ever get pregnant. At least it would be if she were human…
So what you're telling me is this is entirely his fault? Like yeah, she's a clueless dolt, but he obviously has feelings for her, so it's his responsibility to make that known instead of getting mad when she says something stupid while trying to genuinely protect their friendship. Not to mention HE'S the one who pressured her with the scroll and caused that night to happen. And then no doubt he'll be upset when she leaves with the baby because he said he hates children.
Tldr is that he is the (gorgeous) problem here, the only thing FL has done wrong is be painfully oblivious.
Don't get me wrong though, he's hot and the plot has to advance somehow, so I'll forgive and forget and look forward to the day that they finally mutually love eachother and cuteness ensues.
Before anyone hating on ml, gonna put this here but i do agree they have to communicate at least, but knowing ml family would try to harm her child she decided to leave
